How to Stay Fit While on Vacation
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO WORKOUT
First, when you’re planning your vacation get a hotel with a gym. If you can’t find a decent priced hotel with a gym, bring an ‘at home’ workout plan. You can work out in the hotel room if you need to.
If you don’t want to do an ‘at home’ workout in your hotel room, you could google a gym close to your hotel! Sometimes gyms will have free trial passes on their websites. You can see if they have a free pass you can use while on vacation. Then you don’t have to spend money to go workout!
BRING YOUR SUPPLEMENTS WITH YOU
Why would you want to spend money on buying more protein! I would rather spend that money on my vacation! You can put a scoop of protein in a ziplock baggies. Then it is already measured out for you. All you will need to do is put it in some water, and you’re ready to go! You can also do this with your pre-workout. If you take any pill supplements you can just bring the whole bottle.
BRING YOUR WORKOUT CLOTHES AND SHOES
DUH! You don’t want to forget your clothes if you’re planning on working out on vacation. Nothing is worse than having to make a trip to Wal-Mart to buy cheap workout clothes you’ll never wear again! Double and Triple check you have your workout shoes too! I ALWAYS forget to bring shoes with me on vacation! Don’t forget either, or you’ll talk yourself out of working out, or you’ll have to make a special trip to the store.
PLAN YOUR WORKOUTS
Know what workout you want to do before you go to the gym. If you know what you want to do, you won’t waste time wandering around the gym. You can go on Pinterest and find good workouts with basic equipment!
DON’T BAIL ON YOUR WORKOUTS
You’re going to feel a million times better if you’re working out while on vacation! I promise! You’ll have more energy to do the things you want and you’ll sleep better.
“Think of your workouts as important meetings you’ve scheduled with yourself. Bosses don’t cancel.”
IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS:
You can also do other little things to help you feel better while traveling, including:
- Stretching every morning
- Taking a bike to see the city
- Taking the stairs at the hotel
- Walk instead of taking a taxi
If you’re going on a road trip you can put a cooler in the back seat with some healthy snacks and meals you want to eat while on your trip! I did this once when I went to California, it saved us tons of money on food, and we felt a lot better because we were eating home cooked meals and not greasy fast food.
One thing I don’t like doing while on road trips is drinking soda. Drinking soda always makes me feel tired. Plus you usually don’t get the water you need to stay hydrated. Drink water instead! Bonus: You don’t drink your calories! If you are someone who can’t drink water, you could try getting water flavoring. My favorite its Peach Tea. SO GOOD!
I hope these tips will help you while you’re traveling! Thanks for reading!
