My Juicing Experience | Benefits of Juicing

I have tried juicing once before. It was a 5 day juice cleanse, and I thought I was going to die.

My dad has always been big into juicing. He would always say that if I did it, I would feel awful the first few days, but then your body gets use to it and you’ll feel fine. I decided to try it.

My dad and I went to Wal-Mart and got a cheap juicer. We bought lots of fruits and veggies and started juicing! It’s been years since I’ve done one, but I do remember the first day was pretty easy, besides feeling like I was hungry ALL THE TIME. You don’t eat any physical food while on a juicing cleanse. You only juice fruits and veggies.

It obviously got harder the next day, I think I made it to day 3 or 4 when I seriously thought I was going to die. I had no energy and didn’t want to do anything. I would get dizzy when I stood up. Overall, It was awful. I finally gave up, and ate actual food. After eating food, I felt a million times better only minutes after.

I have decided I would like to try this again. However, this time I’m only doing a 1 day cleanse. I want to do this cleanse again because of the benefits that come with it.

I created a board on Pinterest of the recipes I am going to try. I’m going to get everything at Costco so I can get bulk. Last time I juiced I remember it costing a LOT of money. I’m hoping I can get a good deal at Costco so It won’t be as expensive as before.

I have created a Shopping List and the list of the juices I made if you’re interested. You can download it Copy of Shopping List 🙂

Day 1:

Drinks: I made the Sunny Mint, Mean and Green, The Big Bang, Morning Joe, and the Very Berry Good.

It has been a great morning so far! I woke up early and went to the gym, I had my protein shake, got ready for work and MAN! The Sunny mint juice IS MY FAVORITE! Yum! During work I had the Morning Joe juice, I thought it would be awful because I don’t like juiced Carrots that much. It was surprisingly good.

When I got home I tried the mean green. Definitely wasn’t my favorite, but wasn’t too bad. It kinda had a zingy taste to it. The juice did have a whole lemon in it, so that was most likely the zingy taste, but it also had a weird flavor.

The next morning, I felt fine (surprisingly). I kept juicing until dinner time. Around dinner time it started to hit me, the lack of carbs was making me feel more tired than usual. After I ate dinner, I was back to normal! Juicing can be hard, but it has some great benefits. If you’re able to do it, I highly recommend trying it!

Benefits of Juicing include:

  • Calorie reduction without nutrient deprivation

  • Reduce Cravings for Processed Foods

  • Promotion of healthy eating habits

  • Delicious way to consume fresh produce

  • Floods the body with micro-nutrients

  • Absorbs Nutrients Quicker

  • Can give you instant Energy

  • Reduce Cravings for Sweets

Overall Experience and Thoughts:

For me, Juicing is difficult because I’m a carb queen. If I don’t have carbs, I feel super weak. If you can do it for more than 1 day, you should! They have some great recipes for juicing on Pinterest you can try out. Coming up with your own can be hard, it may not be as good or It may have too many fruits (too many natural sugars). Following recipes will make sure you get your vegetables in, as well as making it taste good!
