How to Lose Weight Without Working Out

Working out can be difficult when you have a busy life. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could still lose weight without working out!? Well I have a few suggestions for you!

Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t ever workout. Working out is good for your heart, lungs, and overall health.

  1. Eat more Protein

Adding more protein to your diet can help you feel full longer. You are less likely to eat as much as normal which will help reduce the calories you intake, helping you lose weight quicker!

2. Drink Water

Drinking water is an easy way to lose weight. Water doesn’t have any calories, unlike sweetened drinks. It also can help suppress your appetite. This will help so you don’t over eat, reducing the calories you intake and promoting weight loss. You can read more in my post “Drinking Water for Weight Loss“.

3. Don’t purchase unhealthy foods

This one is pretty simple. Don’t purchase unhealthy foods! When you don’t see unhealthy snacks in your pantry, you can’t eat them! If you currently have unhealthy snacks you can put them in a place where you won’t see them. You’re less likely to eat them if you don’t see them.

4. Cut down on Sugar

Sugar has empty calories. Meaning extra calories with no nutrients. Eating more sugars in your diet can lead to obesity. Minimize the intake of sugar you consume by avoiding things like;

    • Soda
    • Candies
    • Fruit Juices
    • Baked Goods
    • Fruits in Syrup
    • Processed foods (fast food)

According to the American Heart Association:

American women shouldn’t have more than 100 calories per day from added sugars.

American men shouldn’t have more than 150 calories per day from added sugars.

5. Don’t eat as fast

According to Precision Nutrition – “Eating slowly seems to decrease hunger and lead to higher levels of satiety between meals. Takeaway – eat slowly, drink more water, consume less food, and feel more satisfied!”

6. Get sleep and avoid stress

When you don’t get enough sleep each night your body isn’t able to process insulin like it should. Insulin is the hormone that helps you process sugars and starches. Your body isn’t able to process fat from your blood stream as well, and will store it fats. You can read more at WebMD

7. Eat without distractions

They say eating with distractions won’t help when wanting to lose weight. When you’re eating and scrolling on your phone, you don’t realize how much you’re eating. When you aren’t distracted, you can see how much you’re actually eating. You’ll know when you’re full and you won’t overeat.

It’s possible to lose weight without working out! You may need to be more cautious with how much you eat and how often, but it’s possible. Lose weight by eating without distractions, getting a good nights rest, slowing down when eating, cutting down sugar intake, drinking water and eating lots of protein!
